In album: star
My futur brother-in-law asked me to make a cake to look like the Death Star from Star Wars for his grooms cake. This is my first practice attempt at making this cake. Using the Sports Ball cake pan for the shape, I made a chocolate strawberry cake and flavored the icing strawberry as well.

That is cool! I am giving my husband the Star Wars trilogy for Father's Day. This would be a great idea to go along with it.

I was admiring this cake when you first posted it but never posted a comment  but I kept the idea in the back of my mind apparently because I just got a request for a SW cake. I instantly thought of your idea. Quick questions, how did you get it to sit on the board without shifting? Did you use regular cake mix or something more dense like pound cake?

I used a recipe I found here, Blue Ribbon Moist & Fudgey Chocolate cake. To get the cake to sit still you cut off a little of the bottom.
