Asian Inspired Cake With Chocolate Topper
Small 6" cake . Whole top of cake is chocolate topper out of white chocolate (made red) traced over design on wax paper and filled in with the white chocolate. Cake covered in mmf with mmf flowers and BC piping. Character on side of cake is supposed to be that of LOVE...my calligraphy is not the best:) Top design was found in book. I don't know what the symbol is.

I painted the characters on using black gel food coloring mixed with clear vanilla extract. The extract being alcohol based evaporates so it doesn't hurt the mmf. Thanks much:) Every cake is still a learning experience for me!

The word on top is shou4 (it's upside down in the picture), which means longevity.

Side characters were painted on (see above). Top piece was something I xeroxed, blew up to size, taped to cookie sheet with wax paper taped over and then traced with melted chocolate in piping bag with different colors. Red for pattern and white to fill in to make it one solid round piece. Once dry chocolate is pretty hard. I did have trouble fitting it flat on top, thus the icing border around it to make it fit. The tracing was fun!
