Slippery Floor!

Slippery Floor! on Cake Central

I made this cake for 2 cleaning ladies who turned 60 on the same day. I didn't make them look very clever at their job but it made them laugh so all was well.

I am so amazed by your hard work....just found out you haven't put your slide show together yet, can't wait to learn new techniques. I'm sittinghere at work on my break viewing all your cakes- you've done well!!!!!!!!!!!!! All hard work pays off

All of my work is hand crafted. I don't use any moulds of any kind. I'm a bit of a perfectionist and enjoy what I do so much that I get a bit carried away with the detail. I'm self taught and have been making and decorating cakes for the last 3 years.

Anything I can help with I will surely try. The figures are made from professional sugarpaste and a mixture of CMC powder. 1 teaspoon of CMC powder to 500g of paste. Sprinkle the powder onto your work surface and knead your paste into it until all the powder has been worked into it. I roll my paste into a long sausage and cut it into 4 or 5 blocks, cover it with clingfilm then keep the lot in a self sealing plastic bag til I'm ready to use it.

This is absolutely hilarious ... I bet they really loved this cake ... the ladies are fantastic, & all the detail - right down to the water on the floor, and her crooked specs are amazing!

The message on this cake read " Happy 60th Birthday to two auld scrubbers!" CMC is a gum powder which makes the sugarpaste firm but pliable and easier to work with and the models dry solid. It's long name is Carboxy Methyl Cellulose. The water is just pure piping gel heated for a few seconds in a microwave and stirred to get rid of the lumps. Let it cool before spreading it onto the paste though.
