Wilton Instructor's Meeting July 2006 - First Place
This is a cake display I made for the contest held at the Raleigh NC Wilton Method Instructors Annual Meeting. The contest rules said to make a display that will fit in a one square foot area that advertises Course 1, 2 and 3. I did mini cakes that are only about 4 inches in diameter, ... the basket weave cake is narrower but longer than that. This display won first place. The best thing about that is that the judges are the other WMI's at the meeting.
Wow, your display is beautiful.....
Your display is absolutely fantastic! I've seen many of these type of displays in local craft stores and nothing, and I mean NOTHING, comes even close to touching yours! Congrats on your win :)
Thank you to both of you for your kind words. Now all I need is a square foot of shelf space at the store in which I teach so people will sign up for my classes!!!
Great display. I think they need to have displays like this in the front of the stores.
your display is gorgeous...makes me want to take the classes again
That is awesome! I never would have guessed it was mini! Very beautiful!
Well, it's no surprise that you won! Your decorating techniques are so clean and awesome! I hope your classes are overflowing, and those students appreciate the talent that you are sharing with them.
Actually, there is no place in the store I teach in to display this! There is no one foot square shelf space available to me to put this display except overhead over the entrance to the Wilton isle which is too high up to see it! Too bad, because I think it would draw attention to my classes... and my classes are only half full most of the time!
Fabulous display! Really makes you want to take the classes!
i do and i did !!!!
wow how on earth did you do those tiny flowers? And is it covered in candy? It looks so shiny!! [email protected] - I'll vote if you'll tell me how you did it  -okay I'll just vote anyway 'cause I think it's great!
I did the smaller petunias in the smallest lily nail of the Wilton set of lily nails. The larger petunias were piped in a foil covered 1/4 teaspoon! The cake stands only 7" tall and is sitting on a 7" mirror. There are pearls flanking the bead border. I made a 6" fondant base to set the cake on and added cornelli lace between the cake edge and the bead border. Each petunia is accented with edible luster dust in a slightly darker shade to add depth to each flower. The fondant is shiny from the flash.
Beautiful - superior work!!
Perfect cake!!!
WOW is right! Fantastic job!

I've been voting for this before I knew you were a CCer. Beautiful!
