Class Final

Class Final on Cake Central

This wedding cake(royal over styrofoam) w/royal accented fondant bow is a duplicate of the one I created for Wilton Master Course class final. I was thrilled to no end to find it on the front cover of the 2006 course Wilton course catalog!

Holy moly! This is down right beautiful! It looks like it belongs on the cover of a magazine. My dear, you should be teaching classes not being a student! This is down right breathtaking.

As part of the prize package for the Wilton's 2004 Your Take On Cake contest, I got to attend the Master class in Illinois. I shyed away from drop strings before that class. I had a blast!

So how do you keep your strings from drying out and falling off during transport? Mine are always a problem so I tend to not do them very often. Beautiful cake!

I just place the cake so that the area needing stringwork is level with my forehead..position my elbows on the counter and try to pull icing out at the same length before touching cake again. the strings do dry out but i've gotten so lucky as for them not falling off as long as i use the crusting buttercream. i tried using the buttercream from Dawn(Sam's club) and there were piles of strings on the ledges of the cakes.
