Reaching For The Stars
This cake was so much fun to do. You know how you have a picture in your mind of how you want your cake to look...and sometimes it comes out that way and sometime it doesn't? Well this one came out exactly how I wanted it to and I love it!! This was done for twin girls graduating from high school next week. It's 14" and 10" rounds stacked and iced with two tone yellow buttercream. Decorated with fondant stars...stars on wires were embellished with edible glitter. Grad hat was molded using candy melts
that looks SOOOO awesome, I LOVE IT!
how did you make the hat? did you have a special mold? Ive never used candy melts.
how many did you serve with this cake?
The cake was made to serve 65 or so. For the grad hat, I rummaged through my cabinets trying to find something (ie bowls, tupperware etc.) that was the right shape. I found a bowl the right shape for the bottom and I used a tupperware lid to made the square part.
great idea on the grad hat! I need to rummage through my cabinet now; I'd much rather make one from candy melts than fondant. Beautiful cake.
I love this! Do you mind if I show this to a client who is looking for a grad cake?
Not at all....feel free to share! :)
You did a great job! This cake is really cool!!
