This was for a little boys 2nd birthday which was John Deere themed. The corn field is a 2 tiered chocolate cake with crusting buttercream II icing and then a cookies and cream filling using the mint creme oreos crushed up in the buttercream dream recipe....very yummy. The tractor is also chocolate with the crusting buttercream icing and fondant accents.

Adorable! very creative! I thought I was creative when I used the grass tip to make hay for the boarders of my John Deere cake, but yours "takes the cake" so they say!

That is Adorable! That is definitely a very unique idea! This is an Awesome cake! And the little boy riding on the tractor is adorable! Did you use a tractor pan or did you carve it from sheet cakes?

I think it looks awesome! Leily, maybe she viewed it as after the corn has dried out ...when it is ready to harvest, when they actually combine it...I think that is what you had in mind, right? :) Awesome idea and fantastic job on the tractor!!!!

uh, right. The idea came from one of Lindy Smith's cake books..so I can't take all the credit for the idea. She had a blue tractor on a round corn field...looked like wheat to me, but I am not agriculture savvy. Thank you for your comments. I used a large and small loaf pan to make the tractor. front wheels are cut off bottoms of cup cakes and the large were carved out of remaining scraps. Thanks for the Ag lesson ladies..hee hee
