I made this cake for our head layreader at the church. She left texas and I thought a book cake would suit the occasion. Flowers and the band were silk. I STILL have trouble smoothing out the frosting!!!
Pretty cake! I reallylike what people are doing with the cake pan. If youg you might try putting your icing on just a little thicker so your coverage isn't compromised

If you're using buttercream and having trouble smoothing you might try putting your icing on just a little thicker so as you work your spatula over it your coverage isn't compromised. I use a Viva paper towel to get it smoother, but you have to be sure and give your bc a chance to crust some before attempting that, otherwise it'll stick to the towel. Keep trying, you do very nice work!
