Made this cake 5 years ago for my son's 5th birthday. This was the first 3D cake I made. Since then I've tried to get better and improve my techniques.

As this was one of my first 3D cakes, I found it hard to work with the icing around the walls of the castle. It kept slipping down so I tried to dry it quicker by rubbing the outer walls with icing sugar which made it crack slightly. Fortunately this added to the appearance of cracked walls!

That's the secret! Turn a DEFECT into a great EFFECT! ;-D(I'm new to cakes, but have been creating Halloween Houses for over 20 years...Same thing - Illusion...)
