First Communion Cake

First Communion Cake on Cake Central

My take on Sugarshack's beautiful design. Buttercream with fondant & gumpaste flowers and fondant drape. The cross is gumpaste, made with a cookie cutter.

This cake is so beautiful!!! I read your post about only being paid $40--how awful!! Some people are so incredibly clueless and rude!! Just out of curiousity, what were the sizes of the layers and how much, if you had prequoted, would you have charged for this? I hope you don't mind me asking. I am horrible at pricing my own cakes--I undercharge so badly, but I guess I'm afraid people won't pay what the cake should be worth.

Michele - the layers are 7.5 and 11in, I believe. Had I prequoted, I would've charged $75 since he's a friend of my husband. If it were for someone we weren't as close with, I easily could get $90 for this cake in my area (suburban Chicago). You are right about clueless - I think some people just don't have any idea what goes into this art. I guess we all have to take that into account and educate our clients a little bit when it comes to our pricing! Thanks for your note!
