Since I'm not that great at smoothing the tops of cakes perfectly, I decided to pipe big dots all over the parts that showed! Make it seem as though you did it on purpose!

how do i get my icing smooth on the sides,
use a pastry scraper that is taller than your cake...or even go to a hardware store and buy a plastering tool. They work really well too!
