Chess Game on Cake Central

chess board cake; 12 X 12 cake, covered with fondant; fondant was 'painted' with color disolved in white rum; pieces are all made of chococolate (white chocolate for the white pieces; black color was added to semi-sweet chocolate for the black pieces); there is a game in progress.

I bought the mold from a local supplier; I'm sorry I don't remember who the manufacturer was (I've had it a long time); I think you can get one through CandyLand Crafts in the US; keep in mind, that these are not 3D molds; I had to make 2 of everything & then put them together as seamlessly as possible.

Great job! How do you put the pieces together? I've tried (experimenting) and could never get pieces to stay together?..let alone seamlessly...

hello gullet tgirl; Actually there are seams.. they are just fine and hard to see in the photo because of the angle. I used melted chocolate to 'glue' the two halves together; make sure the chocolate is not cold (do not do this immediately after taking the pieces from the fridge or freezer) , brush one half with melted chocolate, press the other piece on top (wear gloves to avoid prints and melting) ciao
