Jip & Janneke Teacher Appreciation Cake
Had a nightmare with this one - had to redo the top border as the first one melted off and slid down the sides of the cake - in the fridge!!! 12in 2-layer hexagon yellow cake filled with strawberry preserves. Decorated with buttercream, hand-painted fondant plaque of Jip & Janneke (famous Dutch children's literature characters) and fondant letters. Done as a gift to the kindergarten teacher from the children leaving the class to go to the 3rd grade. The kindergarten is named after these characters!

Very pretty. The colors are nice. I can sympathize with the unsual heat. I'm in Kaiserslautern GE and I've given up on my all butter buttercreams until it cools down.
