Buttercream Baby Shower Cake

Buttercream Baby Shower Cake on Cake Central

This was my second decorated cake. I copied one i saw on this site (thank you thank you!) I was really nervous about it (quite a few mistakes) but the guest of honor was very gracious and appreciative...I need some help with that whole "heating core" thing....or maybe i just needed more frosting to cover it...I would really appreciate any suggestions on anything at all!!! Thanks for looking!

she uses her flower nail as a heating core? Is that what you mean? I recently bought a grass tip, this cake would have certainly benefited from that....so many toys, huh? (so fun!)

It does look like you used luster dust or added piping gel--love that look. I will give you a tip my Wilton teacher told us, but I haven't tried it. She said anything over 10" she just uses her flower nail b/c all the cake needs is a heater core & it doesn't matter how big it is. Then all you have to do is turn the cake out after baking & take out the nail.Cute cake

oh it was you! glad you got to peek at it! Thank you very much tammiemarie! Yes, i absolutely loved your design and happy now that i can give credit to you. I really need to write down names when i decide to do a cake...cause right now i'm focusing so much on the basics that there's not much "creative juice"...so i'm resolved to humbly copy others for now...hopefully that will change and i'll be able to return the favor! It was fun...yours looked so much better, so much neater.I was shaking!

I love the cake. Great job. For the heating core plug you simply need to cut it so it's roughly the same height as the rest of the cake. Seems to me you may have just needed to take off just a bit more of it.
