July 4Th on Cake Central

My sad little 4th of July cake :( It was a 14, 10, 6, only the 10 was a double layer---simple white cake with buttercream icing and sprinkles!!! I haven't perfected my SMOOTHING abilities and LOST my spatula on the way!!!!!!! SO, it was done with a butterknife and i decided on the "messy" look when i figured out it was NOT going to be smooth enough!!!!!

Hey, don't put yourself or your cake down! It's great and if you can't get it smooth, texture it to make it look like you did it on purpose, One thing can do is use small, metal cake spatula and do sort of little half circles all over randomly - sort of like slightly indented curliques and it looks neat. Looks like you did stipple effect on purpose and design and colors are cool too! My family complained mine took too long/that I was too picky. Was ready when needed anyway :) Hope yours was loved!

Thanks guys!!! Nope, it was buttercream minus the butter :) I did the old butterknife cake trick and pulled it up all over cuz i couldn't get it smooth---1am you get desperate! The photo is kind of bright and detals are hard to see.
