Christmas Present W/ Pinecones

Christmas Present W/ Pinecones on Cake Central

This is a 2-layer yellow cake with Buttercream Icing tinited ivory. The bow, ribbons, and tag are rolled fondant. The pinecones are Chocolate Buttercream made using the same technique as a rose. The evergreen was made from Buttercream with the grass tip. My mother-in-law inspired me to make the pinecones using my rose tip. She had a good idea!

Pine cones look real. Did you just make a thicker and higer base before putting the leaves or whatever they are called?

Yes jessireb. The base was very thick and higher. I cut wax paper squares and made each base on a seperate square. I let them harden overnight. I attached them with icing on my flower nail and then put "whatever those things are called " on like a rose petal. Be careful - they're easy to topple over. Thanks you all!

They're made like you make the Wilton rose except you make the base wider and taller. Follow the directions above. Here's the tips I used. Begin at the top with tip 102, then midway use tip 103, then use tip 104 for the bottom layers. I used the Wilton flower sissors to remove them from the waxed paper and transfered them to the cake. Be sure to make extras. They get top heavy and are easy to fall over. HAVE FUN!
