Mounted Deer Cake

Mounted Deer Cake on Cake Central

The antlers are made out of wire, tinfoil and masking tape covered in white and chocolate almond bark. Cake was carved out of a mixture of oval and round cakes. All done in buttercream. The deer was modeled after an actual deer mounted by the birthday boy! Thanks for all the help given here!

I think this cake is so neat,can you please tell the sizes of the pans and where you used the different sizes at in shaping the deer head, my grandson will love this for his B-day, my email is [email protected]

I used an 8" circle, 6" circle, 8x11 oval and 6x8 oval. The 8" circle is the chest area and I cut the bigger oval to fit right around and above the circle. The part that I cut off of that oval was used to make the ears. Then I layered the smaller circle/oval in the same manner on top them and started carving. I do think I actually added a third layer to the nose with an extra cupcake I had. I think I could've gotten it out of the scraps that I had but it was just easier to use the cupcake for the sha...

I love this cake! and I am going to try to make it for a grooms cake can you tell me how you got the antlers to stay like that? are they just very light and stuck into the cake? or are they screwed to the cake board? thanks for the help
