Course 3 Final Cake

Course 3 Final Cake on Cake Central

I had thought up this cake after taking course 1, and it came out even better than I had imagined. I really wanted to do something different and since I love the 4th of July (especially the colors), this is the end result. My instructor was so great and really helpful; she let us just run with our imaginations.

I LOVE your bows... they look so perfect. Are they fondant? Your red/white strips are wonderful. And the cornelli lace (it is my favorite technique) is perfect.. it adds just the right element.

Yes the bows are fondant, as for the red what I do is I first make the BC orange then I add about 1/3 jar of wilton red no taste. I then added just one toothpick of black, that is the red I got.

Great job! You should add this to the contest! Thanks so much for the red tip, it's a challenge sometimes to get it to that right color.

Thank you all so much. It really means a lot to me. I really do have a new respect for cake decorators. It takes so much work, but in the end it is worth it. This is something I really like doing.
