In album: drape
This is my 2 birds with one stone cake. I took a fondant class last night so I was already decorating a cake - and I had a new family start at my work - so, I turned it into their welcome cake. In my class I leared how to do swags, drapes and ribbon roses. I still need some more practice, but I guess it turned out OK. I just hope the family this is for will enjoy it.

This looks gorgeous!!!!!!!! You sure paid attention!!! My swags fell off by the next am! Did you use the glue or the alcohol?

I used water. I've never had a problem with just plain old water working. In class when we were using the alchol it was evaporating before I could get it on the cake.

Thanks. This wasn't my first time using mmf - just my first time making drapes/swags. It was my first time rolling out with a new method - didn't work so well for me, that's why it's so pitted...but I have since perfected the method.

Very beautiful cake despite the pits. How did you do the lettering? It looks like an imprint. It looks great!
SLK 8/2/06 at 9:43pm
Yes, the letters are imprinted. They are called stone stampers that I got from Michaels. They are used for stamping stepping stones. They have 2 styles...I bought both.
