Grandkids At The Beach

Having my whole family together this past weekend, I wanted to make a grandkid cake. I was very much inspired by bizgriff97's Sandcastle cake and used the same pattern for my fish and crabs. This is a chocolate cake with raspberry mousse and buttercream. The decorations were all made by chocolate transfer. In retrospect, I wouldn't have made the cake so busy, and when I made mirror images of the chocolate transfers, I should have made a "front" and "back" instead of two fronts for each of the kids. Oops!

Thank you. It was a labor of love, for sure. I have to say that the kids got a kick out of seeing themselves on the cake and then eating themselves! It was funny to watch them swap body parts as they each wanted to sample each other's as well!

Wow! I never considered making a little replica of each child. What a great idea! I am doing a cake for my two neices this weekend (and a beach theme too). They would love it!

Wow, what an amazing cake-it's easy to see you spent a lot of time & so much love went into making it. You did a marvolous job-it's so creative.
