I suggested a rainbow cake (on the inside) and of course that's what she wanted! Each layer was baked separately and the corresponding color of frosting was in between each layer. Very time consuming, but well worth the reaction I got when I cut into it.
looks great
I hope you don't mind if I steal your idea! I have a mlp cake due this weekend and I'd love to make it a rainbow cake.
Go for it. Just set aside a lot of baking time! I hope you'll be there when they cut into it!
It looks great. How did you get the balls around the top and bottom to look so marshmellowy?
It's just buttercream piped with a big round tip and made to look like clouds. That probably doesn't explain it very well.
Too cute!
I love that!
I did different colors of icing between layers on one cake I have posted, but no picture of the inside. The presentation is beautiful. Love the colors.
What a cute idea! And a lot of effort! I have to try this now!!
What a cute idea!
What a cute idea!! That is going into my favorites.
Wow how did you do that??? I'd love instructions. I LOVE MLP!!!
How did you get the cake to have those colors? Did you use food coloring? Regular or Wilton type color paste?
It must have been delicious! Great idea for the rainbow cakes!
I was using a 6" and a 10" pan. I did my mix, split it in half and colored each halve two different colors. Then I put a thin layer in each of my pans...I did that 12 times (6 for each pan)!!! Unfortunately, I only have one of each pan, so I had to wash and regrease in between each baking. I used Americolor food coloring.
That is very cool!
