First Paid Wedding Cake

First Paid Wedding Cake on Cake Central

I delivered this on Saturday for a client of my sister-in-law. She's a florist/balloon artist and even coordinator. Luckily my sister made an unscheduled visit this weekend and was able to help me set it up. 6' red velvet on top, 14' yellow poundcake on bottom, 10' cake dummy in the middle.

I charged $2.50 per serving, plus $25 for the cake dummy (they are supposed to return it). Because I'm new at this I tried to be comparable to the local grocery store.

This is very nice. Didi you use buttercream or fondant? If you used buttercream what kind of ribbon did you use? Did the ribbon get oily? Thanks!

I used Wilton all-white buttercream, with real vanilla instead of clear. It was a fabric ribbon. The night before I tested the ribbon against some frosting and saw that it was very absorbent, so I put a strip of wax paper behind it. The oil showed through only where I "glued" it on the back and my sister-in-law covered those spots with flowers.
