Is there any special instruction for using the MMF (rubbing it with shortening so it wont dry out)?

Not really. No special instructions. It is MUCH easier to use than the store bought stuff.. Just keep it wrapped until ready to eat. I just wrap it tightly in saran wrap when I am through and don't unwrap it until time to cut.
