Mini Wedding Cake

Mini Wedding Cake on Cake Central

6" and 3.5" cake covered with fondant and decorated with fondant roses. The 3.5" cake caused me no end of grief as I had to make 6" layers and cut with the comfort grip cookie cutter as I have no 4" pans. I also think the fondant might have been too soft. Any feedback would be appreciated.

The cake was made for my aunt for her work to give to a co-worker who got married a the courthouse yesterday. The couple decided to forego a wedding since they want to save their money to buy a house.

Roses - gorgeous. Design - gorgeous. How thick was your fondant? and how much icing did you put on underneath? It looks really good in the picture, was it rippling in person -- is that why you thought the fondant was too soft?

I had a thin layer of icing underneath and I had smoothed it using VIVA. The fondant was rolled to the height of a nickel per my notes from the Wilton III course. It was very humid last night when I made the fondant and was humid today too. Could that have affected it?

the height of a nickel...i think your fondant needs to be rolled out waaay thicker...that way it'll hide all the imperfections and it'll have a smoother look to it...it won't pick up all the bumps fropm the bc underneath
