Coon Cake

Coon Cake on Cake Central

Thanks to Keonicakes for this idea. This cake cracked me up so I made this for a gentleman that was leaving our company who had worked in our wildlife/fisheries dept. What a great idea Keonicakes had! I plan on making a skunk for the next person leaving and put "smell ya later"!

hey geegouse!!!! Great job on this cake. I'm so flattered that someone liked one of my cakes enough to do their own. I just happen to stumble upon this picture just now and thought, I've never seen another coon cake, other than my own, but this is not mine. lol Again, great job!!!!!!

This is soo great, how on earth did you make the coon? Is the Tail a dowel? and the head, love the expression on it. Oh, and your idea for the next person really made me laugh

I used a dowel for the tail covered in fondant and then iced. The head is actually cake scraps(top of cake cut off) and lots and lots of icing. Thank you for your comments.

How Cute!!! However did you make this???? did you use 8" rounds??? please let me know...I have to make a raccoon cake for someone and I loved this one!!!

I did just use round cake pans for the log. I used half a ball cake for the bottom of the coon and other half with lots of icing and a dowel or two for the head. I used a dowel covered in icing for the tail. Once covered with icing, my husband airbrushed the log.

how did you get your texture on the tree stump? I'm assuming that is made out of fondant...how did you make it look so real? that's great!
