Siobhan's Shoe Cake

Siobhan's Shoe Cake on Cake Central

My friend asked me to make a cake for her sister's birthday. She wanted a killer stilletto, a handbag, a heart, something girly & Irish! So I made her a shoe, a bag, put them on top of a pink heart, gave her a girly bow, and did the lettering in an Irish(y) font! Fondant/gum paste & Royal Icing. Had a great laugh making the shoe!

Thanks everyone for your very kind comments .... I waited til I got enough courage to load my pictures ... and now I'm delighted that I did! The purse I made with a cardbord template that I just played with until I worked out the shape. The bottom & two sides were all one piece, which I cut out of gumpaste, folded over and left to dry with some kitchen towel holding it open in the middle. Two strips for the sides. The satin trim is fabric, and I wired some more to make the handle.

Totally winged it! I got a shoe out of my wardrobe & had it on the windowsil in front of me so I could see roughly where the heel curved up and so on. I used a length of dowelling to go in the middle of the heel to stop it from collapsing! Then I cut a cardboard template for the sole, and kept trimming it til it looked ok. Then used that to cut out the gum paste. Made a cone(ish) shape template for the toe bit & so on. Added the satin trim at the end. Thanks for your lovely comment.
