Square Scrollwork With Lilac Details

Square Scrollwork With Lilac Details on Cake Central

Not my favourite at all. The bride wanted too much detail on this, in my opinion. It was overwhelming! I had to pick most of the petals off the roses for the corners too, as they were way too big and lush to fit on the tiny 1.5" sides!

Oh well....some you love and some you don't. At least it's done!

Nice and smooth! I didn't like the cake I just did either...and being so spacey - I forgot to take a pic - oh well! Beautiful work as per usual!

thanks everyone...i feel better! i only use IMBC, gma1956...but i have to credit my partner Ana with the amazing smoothing on this cake. She dropped by and did it in half the time. Squares take me forever to smooth well. She's miraculous!!!

I like the cake too, but I think the flowers on the edges make it a bit busy. What's the old saying..less is more? Great job!!!

what tip do you use to make the purple flowers? I have a bride that really likes this picture. I'd like to copy except in a round version with some pillars. I would really appreciate any tips you could give me. Thanks.

This is a very beautiful and delicate looking cake. I think the flower topper would have been enough though because the lilac flowers on the sides are plenty of accent here. It looks absolutely perfect. I would like to know how you did those little violet flowers. They're so tiny and pretty. This look is one of my all time favorites. Wonderful job!

I agree. This would have been a beautiful cake if she put all of the roses on the top and none on the side. The scroll work is beautiful. Love the color.

Thanks everyone! I agree 100% that the flowers on the sides are overwhelming and would have been better just as the topper. Glad I'm not alone thinking it was way too busy! :) The lilac flowers are just done with round dots in buttercream, about a #5 tip if I remember correctly??

Very beautiiful and love the soft color. Without the roses on the side it would have been gorgeous, but it is smooth and beautiful.
