Sesame Street Cake Birthday Cake

Sesame Street Cake Birthday Cake on Cake Central

My first time doing Sesame Street --with Elmo on the top. This is the first time I've done Elmo. It's for a little girl Birthday. Big Bird, Cookie Monster, Zoe are made of sugar -- color flow technique and the cookies are from a mini bag.

I love the ways you incorporated the colors of each character into each layer w/o actually using colored frosting on the whole thing.

I love your cake! How did you make the Elmo on the top? I am going to make a Sesame Street cake for my son's 2nd birthday next month.

I made the Elmo from the mini bear pan. You really have to carve him down since the bear is kinda chubby and Elmo is skinny :) Also, I used fondant for his arms and his legs. (Died them red) and frosted them with tip 16. The key is the face -- I got a picture the size of Elmo's face and traced it on with piping gel using wax paper. Also his eyes and nose are fondant as well. Hope this helps!!

What an adorable cake, I am going to try and make a sesame street cake for my son's birthday in August. I just was wondering how did you get Elmo's head to stay steady since it is bigger than the body did you have to use anything to help it from breaking? Just wondering if you could give any tips. Thanks!!

Hi Anna75. I put a rod through him first before I carved him. That way, everything stays together. I used the mini bear pan as well. I decorated his face first, then I put him on the cake and finished the rest of him. Let me know if you have further questions!

You are so nice. Thank you so much. All my cakes are free because this is a hobby -- my friends say I need to start-- not sure I'm ready -- still need to practice:) By the way, how do you view others photos? I was trying to do that for other people as well -- and I can't figure it out :( Thanks again.
