One Of Three Cakes For This Weekend
customer just said she wanted butterflies and bright cheery colors, so this is what I came up with. It is two, twolayer 6 inch chocolate cakes filled with white chocolate BC covered in vanilla BC then covered in 1/2 white chocolate candy clay 1/2 fondant mixture. The sunshine is a sugar mold base with white chocolate rays connected with royal icing. Clouds are royal icing as well. This was a FUN cake.
Awww! That is so cute :D
I absolutely Love this cake! How did you do the pattern on the butterflies? I need to do those next month duplicating little girls room decor?
I hand painted them, both sides. I used a cookie cutter for the wings. Hope that helps. You can also use non-toxic markers from what I understand just make sure that you let the customer know they are "for decoration only"
Amazing!!!!! To be so talented and creative is a special gift--
thanks :) That is reallly a nice thing to say. Big smile for me!

OH MY GOSH! This cake is AWESOME!!! GREAT job! :)
I love it!
Awesome cake!!!!!
Wow, beautiful cake! How big was it? Do you mind telling me for how much you sold it? I'm having a hard time pricing my cakes. Thanks.
Thanks :) It was a column 6 inch cake (4 6 inch cakes stacked) I think I charged 95 for it? Hard to remember. I generally start with a price range of 2.75-3.50 per serving and up it with the more decorations there are and the more work involved, carving, sculpting etc...hope that helps
Hi again, how big is your serving size? From what I understand, this cake was around 30 servings, right? Thanks again.
I actually don't do the cutting, but I think it is around 2x3. It was for a childerens party so the pieces might have been bigger than that. If I remember correct, the order was for only 25 guests??? I think?? Long time ago. Hope this helps. Sorry if it doesn't
I know that you don't do the cutting, but I asked because you mentioned putting the price according to the servings. By the way, I usually cut the pieces smaller when it's for children, because they tend to eat a bite and throw the rest.
Wow what a fantastic cake, i bet the mum loved it. I love it when the parents just give you a brief decription of what they want we can let out imaginations run wild. How did you make the clouds. Adding it to my favs now.
Thanks :) The clouds are just RI. This is one of my favs too.
;-D How did you do 1/2 WC Candy Clay & 1/2 Fondant? This is awesome. My kids would be fighting over who got what off the cake!
Amazing! Beautiful! I have decorator's envy! :D Absolutely beautiful work!!
Very cute; I love the heighth of the small cake! It looks like a cartoon fantasy :D
wow! that is so cute! I love it! You did a gret job!
FAB cake! Was it difficult to getthe fondant so smooth over such a tall and narrow stack? I tend to end up with pleats near the base? :-( Also sugar mould for the sun? Do you mean coloured sugar crystals mixed with something then set? What a brilliant idea - because it sparkles!! :D
I did have a very difficult time...why do you think there are so many flowers and stuff? LOL I was covering the tears and folds. It is horrible to admit but beautiful things came come from ugly mistakes. And yes, the sugar mold is just colored sugar and a little teeny bit of water (to make it like sand castle consistency) then pressed into desired mold and allowed to sit overnight. Thanks for the compliments!
I SO know what you mean. Sometimes the best ideas spring from having to sort out what goes wrong :-) The finished result is fabulous though. I am going to try to emulate it. My daughter is tryingto raise some money for theor prom next year and she wants me to produce a cake for them to raffle. If it turns out anything like yours I'll be REALLY happy!
Its fun to look at also. Nice cake.
love this cake! I think it should be in a magazine...it's really, really adorable :)
It is in a magazine! I just saw this last weekend when looking for ideas for a baby shower that involved ladybugs! It is so adorable!
Your cake could not be any cuter!!!! What a fantastic job you did!!!
Wow! Love the execution and the color.

this one goes to my faves :D
I love this cake! it is wonderful! i would like to make a similar sun i tried once but the sun rays wouldn't stand up up, maybe it was too big, anyhow i ended up cracking it in half and attaching them, waiting for it to dry and then fix the two halfs together. is there an easier way? any help is welcome.
sorry i meant the rays wouldn't stand upright, so i cracked the sun in half and attached the rays (flat on the table) then i fixed the two halves of the sun together again.
This is a beautiful work of art. It's spectacular. They must've been amazed when they received it!
Oh my gosh I love this!!! It's beautiful!
