I made this for my sister's 50th birthday party. She wanted a butter rum cake to go with the rum she poured over each slice for her guests!!! This was my first attempt at a tiered cake. It wasn't great, but the fountain made it look more spectacular.
Very beautiful! I love your cascading roses. How did you do that?
The roses are made of Royal icing. If you let them dry well, then turn them over and pipe a few Royal Icing "spikes" on the back, then when the spikes dry, you can push them into the sides of the cake with a dab of bc underneath like Denturegrip. They stay pretty well that way.
I think this cake it self was really spectacular. Looks so wonderful.
Very pretty. Did you use a rounded bottom cake pan or did you trim the top edge of the cakes? I really like that look.
Looks Really Nice! How was it using the fountain? Wilton?
Reply to crp7: I have a set of beveled pans. I used a regular round for the bottom layer and the same size beveled pan for the top layer. Reply to Connie515: The fountain was easy to use. I have the less expensive "Fanci Fountain".
These are really pretty! You did a beautiful job! I like the beveled look too, are they Wilton!
I think the beveled set of pans I have are from Wilton. I also have a set of contoured pans which are not Wilton. I use both sets a lot. It is nice having something a little different.
This is a beautiful cake. It looks great by itself, but atop the fountain it is just awesome!
