I didnt think this was all that much of a "Topsy Tervy" type of a cake since it was so simple.

Eilers- This was covered with fondant, notice how the edges are rounded, thats usually a tell tail sign of something being fondant. Buttercream tends to have sharper edge angles.

this makes a statement! i do love it. the whole set up looks great. i dont think it looks simple. is it simple to cut and ice and then fondant on that shape cake?

Yeah its actually a pretty easy cake. I just took a cake circle 1 smaller and put it on the top of the cake and used that as my guideline then fliped it over to ice it but i find that using a bench scraper to get the sides perfectly smooth is the key to it. Fondanting them is fairly simple but you just have to get used working with it to keep from getting the creses at the bottom edge.
