A soccer ball cake I did with BC grass and fondant on the ball, for two classmates of my kids who love soccer. Chocolate cakes, one with cherry and one with cheesecake flavored filling. I'm happy with it.
Thank you kindly everyone. It was fun to do, though I was really rushing. The hex's are cut by tracing around a template with a paring knife. The pattern came with the Wilton Sports Ball pan that I found at Michaels for like $6.99--SO worth it! :)
Great job! I have an order to make a cake using black fondant. Did you do the fondant or did you purchase it? Could you give me advice on how to do the black fondant? Thanks much.
I colored the fondant with Wilton black, lots of it, and the best thing was that I colored it DAYS ahead of time and let it sit in a ziplock bag to darken before I actually needed it.
