Guitar Cake

Guitar Cake on Cake Central

This is my first attempt at cake decorating. I was trying to replicate my son's favorite toy for his 2nd birthday party. Considering this was my first cake, I'm pretty happy with how it turned out. I just saw an amazing cake that used a sugar gun to make the strings. If I had seen that earlier, I would have used that instead of spaghetti. Now I'm hooked, so I will hopefully be making more fun cakes soon.

Thanks. Well it was actually the 2nd time I did the neck fo the guitar. My son got ahold of the first version -- not sure if he wanted to eat it or play it. Thankfully, all of the detail work hadn't been completed yet. FYI. The neck is made from rice crispy treats, covered with fondant and I used fondant and gumpaste for all of the knobs, tuners etc. and painted them with luster dust.
