Pencil Cake
Unusual request, I know..lol...but it was done for a woman who was known to always use a number 2 pencil. After much thought on how to do it, I baked two half sheet cakes (one chocolate, one vanilla), cut them lengthwise, stacked them and then laid them end to end at a diagonal on a full sheet cake board. I then cut one end down to make the point. I was surprised at how exact I got the colors. For the silvery band I also went over it with silver luster dust. This was very tedious but worth it.
really cute!
Very cute.
Great work! I saw this same cake in a book somewhere but can't remember which one. Anyway, I wanted to try this cake myself. Yours looks so easy.
Thank you! It was pretty easy, just took awhile. I'm sure a crayon could be done the same way.
This cake is so clever! What colors did you use to achieve the correct yellow? This would be a great back-to-school cake! Fabulous job!
Thanks! To get the yellow I mixed equal parts of yellow and orange then added a tinge of brown until I thought it was about right.
Looks great!
