This is an almond pound cake 4-tier wedding cake. I used almond flavored bc icing with a band of fondant at the bottom edge of each tier. The flowers are silk. The wedding theme was "Hawaiian Beach Party" so brightly colored flowers were used.
I frost the cake first with an icer tip, then get it as smooth as possible with a spatula. Let it sit out for about 1/2 hr to crust. Then I use a piece of parchment paper and I glide a clean spatula over the paper to gently press out any "stroke marks" that I left when I frosted it. The upper edges of each tier are slightly rounded by placing the parchment on the side of the cake and gently drawing the clean spatula up and over the top edge. This give a slight rounding effect. Hope that helps.
