I've been taking Wilton classes and decorating cakes since November, but this my first posting. It's basically a copy of a cake posted here by Nathalie and is an adaption of a cake in the 2004 Wilton Yearbook (thx Nathalie). Iced in BC, MMF flowers, butterflies; RI rainbow, butterfly bodies, BC grass & leaves. When my daughter-in-law was pregnant, we called the baby "Schmetterling," which is German for butterfly. Now her name is Grace and she's two today.
denise, your cake is beautiful. It looks perfect. I love the airbrushed look and the rainbow with the butterflies and name is great. I'm sure Grace loved it!
Once again, I really have to give credit to Nathalie--putting the name on the rainbow was her idea. It was fun making this cake and I love the way it turned out, but the idea wasn't mine.
EXCELLENT!!!! Did you airbush part of the cake as well?? :D
Your work is beautiful!
I love this! How did you do the rainbow?
Beautiful. Great job.
Thanks everybody. Sweetsuccess, it's just cake spray on white BC--pretty easy. Azmomto, I piped the rainbow in RI using the rainbow template from Wilton Course 1 and tip 47 (flat side up). I put a few toothpicks in the bottom of the rainbow to hold it upright on the cake.
I love the name on the rainbow. Great idea.
