In album: disney
I had a ton of trouble with this one, but all in all really enjoyed it. It is covered in all MMF with buttercream accents. Disco dust is sprinkled on the tops of the towers.

I also wanted to add that I shamelessly used ideas from many other talented people's cakes on this site, and I would like to thank all of you who have done castle cakes, especially HollyPJ and GRAMMASUE. Thanks, guys!

Beautiful work! It is so fairytale like. I am sure the bday girl loved it.

Absolutely incredible. I love your details..the wood door, pearl on top of each tower, the climbing ivy. Its magnificent.

Great job! Castle cakes are my favorites. :) What size are the cakes?
kelleym 5/27/06 at 7:00am
Thanks, everyone! :) The bottom is an 8" square and the top is a 6" round. On the bottom I cut out "notches" from the corners so the towers would fit better. It was a nightmare getting the fondant around those little edges!

Extremely well done - a $100 for this to a 'normal' customer would be a bargain!
GRAMMASUE 5/27/06 at 7:19am
Absolutely beautiful!!! You did a fantastic job - I like it much better than mine!! I'm glad that you were able to use some of my ideas!! I love this castle!! :) Grammasue.

This is terrific! It was funny to see your comment on mine today, because I'm making another castle this weekend. I hope mine is even half as beautiful as yours. Great work!

Castles cakes are so awesome! Yours turned out fantastic. Love the cobblestone look, shiney turrets and pearls on top. Excellent work!

My Oh MY This is just beautiful. Can you share how you put this together? What did you use for the turrets and how did you do the cobblestone look? Just beautiful!
kelleym 6/26/06 at 1:40pm
The turrets are cardboard tubes (from the inside of wrapping paper rolls), wrapped in fondant. The tops are waffle ice cream cones also wrapped in fondant. For both these things I used royal icing 'glue' to help the fondant adhere. The cobblestones are from an impression mat I got at the cake decorating supply store. Any other questions, just ask!
