Brushed Embroidery On Whipped Icing
I was worried about using the brushed embroidery technique on whipped icing, but with a very soft touch, it worked. I decorated with medium consistency buttercream icing with piping gel. In some cases, I picked up the icing but it actually added to the effect. You can see my x's in preparation for a tiered cake, but I didn't assemlble for the pic because I have to transport it.
Your cakes are beautiful. Did you free hand the flower's outline or use a cutter to make a pattern in the BC?
On the cakes I used 2 size cutters of the same shape. On the balls, I freehanded it.
BEAUTIFUL!!!
what are the little round balls made of? Did you paint them w/ icing, or is that something else? :?
They are the new globe set from Wilton that I covered with fondant. Then I used icing to do the brushed embroidery.
