Flower Pot Cakes
Chocolate cakes baked in 4" clay flower pots, with chocolate icing and crushed up chocolate Teddy Grahams for the "dirt". I used 3 different sizes of daisy cutters with neon orange, pink and yellow fondant and glued them to their sticks using buttercream icing. These were for teacher gifts for the end of the school year.

So they are not cupcakes, you baked the batter the the clay pots. I love it!!!

These are great! Did you use any cooking spray or flour in pots? Please let me know.
How adorable! I've heard of baking in the pots but haven't tried it. How do you make them food safe? Do you line them or spray them? I've decorated some for my sister's baby shower but I'm just putting mini brownies, already baked, inside them. Give us your how-to's!! :D
what a great idea.
The only thing I did to the pots was wash them in very hot water before I baked in them, and then let them air dry. I lined the bottom with a round parchment circle and sprayed the inside lightly with canola spray. If you use too much it will "bleed" through. I set them on a cookie sheet to bake and just baked till they were cooked through.
Cute! Does anything have to be done to the pots to make them food safe?
I love this idea thanks for sharing....I learned a great way to make clay pot food safe is to first wash it in hot soapy water, then put it in rapidly boiling water , covered for 10- 30
10 - 30 minutes that is. :)
Cute!!!!!!!!!!!
What a wonderful idea! Thanks for sharing this, and your tips, too!
Since a clay pot is washed and clean it is food safe. Haven't you heard about keeping drinking water in a clay jar? By the way, the clay keeps the water naturally nice and cold!
Great idea!! So cute :-)
