Graduation

Graduation on Cake Central

A graduation cake for a school whose colors are black, orange and white. They wanted chocolate icing and said I could use that instead of black (thank goodness!). The emblem is a FBCT, diploma is MMF, cap is the top of a jumbo cupcake covered with MMF. Mortar is a piece of cardboard wrapped with MMF and the tassel is MMF pushed through a garlic press! I was really happy with this one except for the writing.

Wow you have all the cake tecniques. Looks great. For the writting on your next one Im a big fan of royal icing. I found it less scary than direct writting. You really did a great job though :)

Thanks for the nice comments! I wrapped the cardboard front and back with contact paper and then very carefully wrapped the fondant around it, like you would wrap a cake board. You can't really see it in the pictures, but the fondant is cracking a little bit around the edges. I find black fondant kind of hard to work with because it has to have so much color in it.
