Red Dragon Cake

Red Dragon Cake on Cake Central

the whole thing is covered in MMF. I had a little leftover wilton fondant that I used for the spikes and the curly pieces. The "fire", teeth, and wings are gumpaste. This was my 2nd attempt at the wings and they weren't dry yet so I didn't stick them in the cake like I had planned. The mouth is supported open by a board underneath the top of the mouth. I did a little painting and also dusted with gold lustre dust.

FABULOUS! When UI lived in CA I had a neighbor who specialized in animal and creature cakes. Your sculping is fantastic. Alot of detail.

WAY COOL!!!!!! Did you have a picture to look at when you did this? I love the look of the fire! My son is going nuts over it right now!!! He's saying "go up mommy, go up so I can see it again!!!" LOL Great work!

Thank you so much for your comments!! I had a lot of fun working on this cake! Ellyrae-LOL my boys do the same thing! I took out a couple books on dragons from the library, so I had a lot of pictures to look at. It really helps me to have something for reference when doing 3D cakes.

Thanks everyone!! The wings are made from gumpaste. I just cut them freehand and added the "arm". They actually were supposed to be sticking into the cake but were too fragile...
