This cake is 8in, 6in and 4 in. Covered with basketweave. I made a spiral of red buttercream roses. This was fun to make, unfortunately it didn't make the car ride. I know better than to prestack cakes, but I didn't have a choice in this situation.
So long as I get a good picture that is all I care about. If the car ride didn't get it, the eaters would have. That is my only cake that has ever done that though.
The roses are buttercream. I just use buttercream as the glue. I pretty much never have problems with just using buttercream. I squirt a little on the back like glue and stick it on!
