Sara's Graduation Cake
Thanks to Hockeymom, I was able to duplicate her idea of writing on the sides of the cake. I wrote the graduate's name over and over in different fonts along with 2006. The school crest is made of fondant with royal icing for the letters. White cake with strawberry filling and cream cheese icing. I'll post close ups of the top and sides. Thanks again Hockeymom!
I love this cake, especially the writing on the sides. Can you share how you did it??
Thanks so much! "Hockeymom" was nice enough to share how she wrote on cake sides so I followed her instructions. I just used a #2 tip and crusting cream cheese icing. No special tricks just started writing. My design is kinda abstract so I didn't worry about straight lines etc. I just wrote the same word over and over in different fonts. It was fun to do. Hope this helps.
Thanks so much for sharing how you did that. I love it and will try it on a future cake.
It's a gorgous cake. How did you ever get the frosting so smooth? I've try the crusting cream cheese icing from the site and I can never get it to go on smooth (but boy, it tastes great)!
