Fondant flag, edible image on buttercream. Many thanks to all of those that have posted cakes with the flag draping and dog tags! The customer was moved by the cake, she said the young man's mom was in tears and he was very proud of his cake. These type of cakes give me chills being so patriotic, knowing what these people give unselfishly defending our country! My thanks to them and their families for lending them to serve!

How did you go about making the flag? My husband is coming home from a long deployment and I would love to make him something like this.

Thanks so much for all the wonderful compliments!!! The flag was done by rolling out a large white fondant piece, then cutting red stripes and laying them on the white and the same with the blue.
