Bow Wedding
I made this for a friend. She wanted a simple, all white, round wedding cake with dots and a bow on top. This was to serve 150+ (not counting the top tier). It was lemon cake with lemon filling.....all buttercream icing except for the MMF bow....Now for the horrible part.....I was just getting over the flu and I guess I blame my forgetfullness on that.....I didn't use dowel rods when stacking this.....and u guessed it, it started to lean back and the bottom tier started cracking after I left.....
yeah, this was only my 3rd wedding cake and i know most ppl here prob wonder 'y wouldn't she use dowels?' but i honestly didn't realize it made that much of a difference....i guess it was a learning experience! bride is still on honeymoon.....i'll let u know what she says when she's back
the caterer told me over the phone that they would try to salvage the top 3 tiers and just cut up the bottom.....haven't heard back from anyone yet (bride is on honeymoon), but i pray it made it!! they were serving a seperate desert at the reception and were cutting this up for favors (see the little boxes surrounding)
