Valentine's Day Cake

Valentine's Day Cake on Cake Central

Similar to the one in the Wilton yearbook. My first time making rosettes. I also don't know how to make buttercream roses yet, so I molded some out of colored white chocolate and put them around the edge of the cake (but forgot to line them up with the decorations on top!). Hearts on top are also colored white chocolate - molded them in a shaped muffin pan. People wouldn't eat them at first because they thought they were plastic! :)

that's so cute! :D did youhave a hard time unmolding the chocolate from the muffin pan? i find it extremely hard to unmold chocolate as it always sticks to my molds. did you have to temper it before using?

The muffin pan I used was actually a silicone one, so it was bendy enough to make them easy to get out. I used white chocolates designed for candy making (my bake shop here in town calls them "A'Peels") and I easily melt them in the microwave. I stirred in a bit of red after they were nice and runny.
