My son has been wanting his "Pirate Ship Birthday Cake" for months, and he finally got it. Base cake is white with buttercream icing, fondant shark fins. Boat is chocolate with espresso buttercream and satin ice chocolate fondant. The railing is part tootsie roll and part fondant. The plank is tootsie roll. figures and sails are from the Veggie tales Jonah toy "The Pirates who don't do anything". It was getting late, so I dropped he idea of making fondant sails, these worked, so I could go to bed.
