Buttercream Cakes - From "alicia's Big Catch" - Grooms Table (Pic 1 Of 3)
For my stepdaughter's wedding on March 31, 2007. The display titled "Alicia's Big Catch" had 3 cakes: 1) a fondant-covered FISH (apple cinamon) painted in edible colors and luster dust, 2) a buttercream "camo" cake (strawberry chocolate chip) with a comic bride and groom topper, and 3) a buttercream basketweave fishing creel (chocolate). I hadn't decorated cakes for about 3 years, and it was fun to do this again. This was my 1st fondant project. RIGHT-CLICK Photo and "Open in New Window" for CLOSEUP!
Love the "camo" and the basket is wonderful.
thank you! I used the Viva paper towel method I read about here on the forum to make a smooth surface on the camo cake. It worked wonderfully!
yeah youre smoothing is wonderful...great job on both the cakes and the display
Thanks - the towel method is GREAT on buttercream after you let it stand a bit! It's one of the first "tips" I tried out when I joined this site!
