Cheetah Purse Cake
This is my first attempt at a purse cake. Cut and stacked an 11x15 cake- 4 layers tall. Covered in Pettinice fondant. Airbrushed a light tan color, hand painted spots with brown Americolor mixed w/gold luster (stole that idea from another cheetah cake). Painted black on top with mor Americolor. Flowers and handle are fondant too. Fringe is buttercream w/grass tip. For a "Cheetah Girls" birthday party. Customer loved the fringe the most because she thought that made it look even more real.

Absoloutely amazing! I wish my 1st purse cake had turned out a 1/4 as good as this.
Wow, you did a fantastic job! Congratulations!
I love it!!! 1st purse cake, wow its perfect. I'm very new at this can you tell what Pettinice fondant is.
Hey, don't be shy about asking...how do you think I found out about the stuff? LOL! It is just a brand of fondant. I have tried Wilton (which I think is great for modeling little figures and such, but Satin Ice brand and Pettinice are just wonderful to work with. More expensive, but worth it. Rolls easier, tastes 100% better than Wilton, handles better, I think its just better all around.
Thank you so much! I live in southern California, do you know where I can find the other brands of fondant with out ordering them on line. I also tried the Wilton fondant but the taste was awful. Ive been an amateur baker for about a month so Ive been making MMF because it tastes better. If I can find a fondant that is alredy made would be great. I still need to master my marshmallow fondant skills.
WOW! WOW! and WOW!
I bought mine at the local cake supply store. I would check around to see if you have any candy/baking supply stores in your area. You could also start a thread and find out if any other CA bakers can tell you. The people on the forums here are always very helpful.
This cake is just darling! I LOVE it!
spectacular! it's awesome!
Love it. Great Job. Keep up the Good work
This is a really cute cake. I think the fringe effect is really clever.
WOW! You did sucha great job on this purse! I love the cheetah print!
Thanks everyone for your comments. I can't believe a first time cake of mine is getting this much attention.
I really like how the fondant looks like real leather. Is that done with luster dust?
Lovely- the base of the cake was actually just sprayed with straight airbrush colors real lightly. I did the hand painting and then airbrushed the whole thing with super pearl. The only luster was a bit of gold mixed into the brown Americolor gel for the spots.
