Lots Of Firsts!!
Lots of firsts on this cake. First time working with ganache, first time working with Tootsie rolls for the roses, first time modifing a cake mix. Had fun trying to work with it all. Cake is a chocholate fudge cake with sour cream (ladyscakes recipe) and everything else was ganache, except of course the Tootsie roll roses. Inspired by HollyPJ, but not even close to being as beautiful. She does a wonderful job.
how do you do the roses.? they look great...
The roses look beautiful. Heck, the whole cake looks beautiful and scrumptious. I'd also love to know how you did the roses!
How thats beautiful. I love the roses - how did you do them?
Wow, a masterpiece. That border is awesome and the roses are terrific. Really great!! ;-D (so....how did it taste?)
I want a piece now! Good Job!
Thanks for the postive comments. The roses are really easy. You do them just like fondant roses. You start out by making a base like a regular rose ( "hershey kiss" size) and then make little balls and then forming them into petals. They attach easy because the tootsie rolls and already sticky. It was fun. The cake was really good, lots of really good comments. Made with a cake box mix but modified, it was slightly denser then regular box cake mix. That was what I was looking for.
looks so yummy. loved the roses
